Sol Psychology strives to support individuals with diverse presenting concerns, ranging from anxiety and mood disorders, relational challenges, trauma, grief and loss, divorce, separation, life changes, and transitions. We work with Couples and Families to understand the complexities associated with working through relationship challenges.
We provide executive and life coaching and organizational and clinical consultations alongside psychotherapy. At Sol Psychology, we work with clients to ensure their therapy and coaching experience is customized to best fit their needs. We are here for you if you’re facing grief, trauma or significant life changes.
Beginning therapy can be a difficult first step. Asking for support is hard, often riddled with feelings of inadequacy, weakness, or feeling unable to solve your own problem/s. Leaning into these worries prevents some people from seeking help, causing them to remain “stuck”. It is perhaps at these moments of vulnerability that a non-judgmental, supportive presence of a professional therapist can be most useful in allowing you to feel supported in your struggles and to help facilitate personal growth.
Forget all your preconceived ideas about therapy. At Sol Psychology, we're committed to working with you in a collaborative way so you can experience real and lasting change in your life.
Currently, Sol Psychology offers telehealth services to clients residing in Illinois and California, along with any of the 40 PSYPACT states in accordance with the standards set forth by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the American Psychological Association (APA) and state licensing boards. Research into telehealth, or online therapy, has found that online therapy is equally or even more effective than in-person therapy.
Therapy often involves dissecting a person’s history, beliefs, behaviors, emotions, relationships and more. With the help of our team at Sol this collaborative treatment can introduce real, positive change into a client’s life.
Therapy can positively impact a person’s mental health and ability to communicate. It can improve relationships, increase confidence and aid in problem-solving. Oftentimes, these changes have an unexpected positive influence in other areas of a person’s life.
It’s best to go into therapy without any preconceived notions. That being said, clients can expect to be treated with respect, kindness and confidential care. It is not necessary to prepare anything in advance of your first session.
Yes, you can rest assured that all information you share will remain confidential. Note, there are limitations to confidentiality in these cases: (1) you pose a threat to harm yourself, (2) you indicate an imminent threat to another person, (3) we suspect child or elder abuse/neglect is occurring and/or (4) if state/federal courts subpoena our records for testimony.
Therapy needs vary from person to person, which is why it’s best to enter therapy with an open mind. For some, therapy is a lifelong journey, while others may discontinue therapy after they feel an issue/condition has resolved itself.
Therapy sessions typically last about 50 minutes. Frequency of sessions is dependent upon individual needs, which we will work with you to determine with the focus being on you feeling better and developing tools to cope with your issue.
We are in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO, Blue Choice PPO, Aetna PPO, Cigna PPO, and Optum/United Healthcare PPO insurance plans.
We encourage you to contact your insurance carrier before your session to understand any plan cost-sharing such as copayments, deductibles, or other costs for which you may be responsible. Copay and/or coinsurance is due at the time of service.
For all other insurance plans, this means Sol Psychology is out of network. If out-of-network insurance is used, full payment is due at the time of service. We can provide a monthly Superbill to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
Self-pay is a fixed rate determined by your therapist for a specific service. These rates are usually determined based on years of experience, additional training, and certifications as well as market research for your area. Self-pay visits are not billed through insurance.
Self-pay rates are not applied to a deductible and no insurance claims are filed. This means that if you have a deductible to meet, the self-pay rate will not go towards helping you meet your deductible.
Sol Psychology exclusively accepts credit card payments, venmo, bank transfers and HSA payments.
If you have a high deductible plan or are filing out of network it may cost less to self-pay. The rate you pay toward your deductible is a negotiated rate set by your insurance carrier. Some providers offer a slightly lower self-pay rate than others.
If you do not usually meet their deductible or do not have many medical expenses, it may ultimately save you money to choose the self-pay rate.
You may however choose to pay with an FSA or HSA debit card if you have that account set up with your employer and/ or insurance provider. Please note marriage/couples’ therapy is not eligible for FSA and HSA coverage.
